KosEd Successfully Delivers the First Cycle of the Accredited Training Programme "Kosovan Peer-Led Quality Assurance Model"

The European Union Project - KosEd, in partnership with the Pedagogical Institute of Kosovo (PIK) and in close cooperation with Municipal Directorates of Education, has successfully completed the first cycle of the accredited training programme "Kosovan Peer-Led Quality Assurance Model."
Delivered over the past two weeks, the programme was implemented across eight municipalities—Prizren, Rahovec, Gjakova, Deçan, Obiliq, Podujevë, Viti and Kaçanik—through 11 training groups facilitated by six certified trainers. Approximately 330 participants took part in the programme, including school leadership teams, municipal education officials and Education Inspectorate representatives.
The training programme is accredited by KSHLM/MAShTI and aims to strengthen schools' capacities to improve teaching and learning through evidence-based quality assurance processes.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in interactive presentations, collaborative discussions, group work and practical exercises, enabling them to build the knowledge and skills required to implement the Kosovan Peer-Led Quality Assurance Model within their schools.
The model promotes a transformative approach to continuous school improvement through the Plan – Do – Check – Act (PDCA) quality cycle. It is implemented in two phases:
Phase I: School self-review conducted by the internal school team across five quality areas: Governance and Management; School Culture and Environment; Teaching and Learning; Teachers' Professional Development; and Student Performance.
Phase II: The School Quality Assurance Week, during which municipal peer-review teams validate school findings using the same evidence and quality indicators.
Following successful completion of both phases, participants will receive 50 hours of certified professional development, recognising both formal training and practical implementation activities.
The evidence collected through this process will enable participating schools to review or develop their School-Based Professional Development Plans (SBPDP), implement priority professional learning activities—including KosEd's eight pedagogical practice modules—and revise their School Development Plans and annual action plans during the 2026/27 academic year.
The programme represents an important step towards embedding a sustainable culture of quality assurance, collaborative professional learning and evidence-based school improvement throughout Kosovo's pre-university education system.
Following this successful implementation, the programme is expected to be expanded to additional schools and municipalities from August/September 2026, further strengthening quality assurance practices across the country.
