The first steering committee of the European Union's project "KosEd: Support for Primary and Upper Secondary Education", held a meeting on June 8th, 2022 to discuss the implementation of activities that will generate tangible results in pre-university education in Kosovo.
The KosEd project will provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation(MESTI), for reforming textbooks, recruiting teachers and educational leaders, and ensuring the quality and professional development of teaching.
The Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci in this meeting said that the "European Union remains a vital partner in promoting quality education and supporting the journey towards European integration".
"The KosEd project is expected to have a significant impact on the education sector in Kosovo, contributing to the development of skilled human resources and promoting social and economic progress", added Nagavci.
The aim of the project is to enhance the quality, accountability, and accessibility of the pre-university education system in Kosovo.
The project will provide solutions to enhance teaching and learning in schools, underpinned by robust quality assurance systems, needs-based teacher professional development, merit-based recruitment frameworks, and high-quality textbooks.
The project will support the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MESTI) in implementing the Kosovo Education Strategic Plan (KESP) 2017-2021 and 2022-2026, which is in line with the National Development Strategy.
